Teachers

Chickadee Music Together teachers are passionate about music education and the development of children. We create a fun, informal setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's unique musical development. Our program combines a commitment to professional, high-quality instruction with an understanding of what truly appeals to children and helps them thrive. New teachers receive training and certification from Music Together Princeton and participate in a semester-long apprenticeship with a master teacher. Teaching Music Together is an amazing experience and we love being a part of your child's introduction to the joyful world of music!

photo Carol Dansereau

Music has been central to Carol's life since she tried out for a school production of The Magic Flute in elementary school and played the Queen of the Night. While pursuing a career in environmental law working with migrant farm workers and others, she concurrently composed songs for guitar and voice, formed and performed in a vocal trio and sang in many choruses and productions. As a parent, providing a stimulating music environment for her children was a priority and one of her greatest joys. Eager to continue sharing the beauty of music with young children, Carol completed the Music Together training after her children headed off to college and is thrilled to be teaching classes with Chickadee Music Together and Songbird Music Together. She has a special interest in helping restore music to its rightful place in our society as a joy in which all are entitled to participate.

Her many years of experience in musical theater and chorus coupled with her extensive experience working one-on-one with children of all ages makes Music Together the perfect blend of the things she loves most! Kara has always striven to make music a huge part of her work with children as she believes strongly in the powerful impact it has on their development and happiness. She earned her B.A. at Georgia State University in Theatre and has built a rewarding career in music and child care over the last decade. Teaching Music Together will excel her two loves even further and she can't wait to see where it takes her. Kara will be apprenticing with Mary Anne Aiello in the Saturday morning classes at Phinney Neighborhood Center.
